Midlands: 10 New Three-Stars

FRISCO, Texas – Scout.com profiles some of the players who rose in the rankings and added a third star after a strong showing in 2012...

CB Cydney Calvin – Uncommitted
New Position Ranking: #78
After getting on the field he proved pretty quickly he has D1 skills. Great size at the position and speed. He is able to lock down receivers and is also a very dangerous return man.

CB Isaiah Brown – Committed to Tulsa
New Position Ranking: #103
A Scout.com All-Midlands selection, who helped lead a Katy defense that went on to capture the 5A-D1 State Title. Another defensive back who has good size. He is a natural cover corner.

DE Vili Levini – Committed to Utah
New Position Ranking: #68
A powerful and active prospect with a big-time frame. He is an effective defensive end, but could grow in to a number of positions once he gets to college. Was listed at 210 pounds, but is probably closer to 230 now.

DT Zelt Minor – Committed to SMU
New Position Ranking: #80
Had s huge season for Houston Lamar and helped lead the defense to a 15-1 season. He is a wide load that actually looks and plays bigger than he is listed. He is quick and strong and plays with good balance.

OG Dwayne Johnson – Uncommitted
New Position Ranking: #60
After playing tackle as a junior he moved to center as a senior proving that he is a very versatile prospect who could play at least four of the OL positions in college with a 6'5 frame.

OLB Jordan Evans – Committed to Oklahoma
New Position Ranking: #45
This talented two-way player burst on the Oklahoma prep scene with a huge senior year. He is fast and athletic and has the speed to chase plays from sideline-to-sideline. A true late bloomer.

S J'Marcus Rhodes – Committed to SMU
New Position Ranking: #103
Rhodes is one of the most under-valued prospects in the state. He plays on a team with a lot of talent, but had a breakout year personally in some regards. He could be an excellent receiver or safety in college.

WR Cameron Smith – Uncommitted
New Position Ranking: #123
A slick receiver who has the ability to create great separation and catches everything that comes close to him. Very cerebral player who will only get better as he gains strength and maturity.

WR Brice Gunter – Committed to Texas State
New Position Ranking: #161
Texas State got one of the best steals in the class with this kid. He is a ultra-competitive athlete who easily passes the eye ball test. He is able to high point the ball and shows great concentration and big-time playmaking skills.

QB Austin Robinson – Committed to UTSA
New Position Ranking: #77
A true dual-threat. Like Texas State with Gunter UTSA is getting a real solid talent at the most important position on the field. Did not play at the highest of levels in high school -- but no matter -- his feet and quick release will make him a legit playmaking threat on every snap.
