Domer Grabs B1G Offer

It was a big weekend for Mount Carmel (Ill.) High running back Matt Domer who picked up his first Big Ten offer from Illinois -- check out more inside.

Mount Carmel (Ill.) junior running back Matt Domer picked up his second offer Sunday at Illinois junior day.

"I had some clue it was going to happen when they made it seem imperative that I attended this junior day," Domer said. "So, it was in the back of my mind that an offer could be coming when I went down to meet these coaches in person."

Even then, Domer was pretty surprised when he was offered by the Illini.

"But when the coaches told me I was all smiles," Domer said. "I was enjoying the feeling of being offered a chance to play in one of the huge NCAA conferences I had dreamed of playing in growing up."

He added, "It is almost like a dream come true."

Domer also enjoyed the rest of the day in Champaign.

"The best part of the day getting the offer of course," Domer joked. "But I also really enjoyed bonding the with the coaches."

He added, "It was pretty nice to be on their grounds with them and touring the campus. Made me think about staying home for college, but I am still keeping my options open."

Another thing that Domer likes about the Illini, is their offense.

"It is a balanced offense that can throw surprises at you," Domer said. "Speed is my specialty so I believe if that were my final decision I could fit in and help make plays."

And as for recruiting in general, it's picking up for Domer.

"Recruiting is alright I have to say. I can't ask for much, it is all about who gets noticed first. Hopefully, this offer will continue to get me out there," Domer said.

Domer also has an offer from Northern Illinois and has heard from Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Cincinatti, Penn State, Bowling Green, and plenty others.
