Blue Springs RB Eyes Illini
Dalvin Warmack and Elijah Lee are two of the top prospects in Missouri for 2014. Warmack was honored as the most outstanding player in Kansas City, while Lee was the most outstanding big-class lineman or linebacker in the metro. After leading Blue Springs to the Missouri Class 6 State Championship in 2012, they made their way to Champaign on Saturday for Junior Day at Illinois. "It was pretty fun," Warmack said. "This was our second time up there, so we had seen everything before. We got to our around the community. It's one of those true college community towns, so I liked it." "The thing that stuck out that was pretty neat was their climate-controlled practice facility," he said. "If they've got a game coming up, and it's going to be 40 or 50 degrees, they can set it and go in there to get ready." The 5-foot-9, 177-pound all-state runner rolled up 2,279 rushing yards and 45 total touchdowns. Playing in Missouri's largest classification, Warmack's breakout junior year drew the eyes of the Illini staff. "My mom and I talked with Coach Tim Beckman," Warmack said. "He said they were really impressed with the season I had, and they will be waiting to see what I do and hope that I come to their camp." Realizing their dream of playing college football together could become a reality, Warmack and Lee made the trip together. They aren't considered a package deal, though they have been most of their lives. "Most people might not know, but me and Elijah, we went to the same Head Start in Topeka, Kansas," Warmack said with a smile. "We've known each other since we were three or four." "It's really neat, the idea of playing in college with Elijah. We've always said we'd do this and that, play college football and stuff like that. To actually have it start to come true a little bit, it's really neat."
