Last weekend, 2013 RB Terrence Upshaw made an official visit to Samford. At the time, he was verbally committed to South Alabama.

"The visit was so nice," Upshaw said of his trip. "I was committed to South Alabama before that, but after the visit I switched my commitment to Samford."

Upshaw, a 5-foot-9 and 186 pound senior at Northview High School (GA), credits the campus and coaching staff with his decision.

"The coaching staff at Samford is amazing," Upshaw explained. "I have such a good vibe from all of them. I made my decision based on the best school with the best education."

Since his commitment on Monday, Upshaw has seen his recruitment gain momentum, earning offers from Appalachian State and Furman.

"Furman and App State both wanted me to take an official visit this weekend, but I have chosen not to go," Upshaw said. "Samford is where I want to be."

So, what do Samford football fans have to look forward to?

"I think they've gained a back who's going to help in the best way possible for four years," Upshaw said of his addition to the team. "I want to win a championship."

Upshaw says he will not take any final official visits, and that his recruitment is now over.
