During the January 25th weekend, receiver Julian Williams took one of his final official visits to South Alabama.
"The campus is amazing," Williams said of the trip. "I had no idea the facilities were going to be so beautiful. Nothing has been touched yet."
Although Williams fell in love with South Alabama, he landed on the recruiting radar late in the game.
As a senior at Collins Hill High School (GA), Williams earned South Alabama's interest during their pursuit of quarterback Brett Sheehan, who committed this week. When South Alabama came to visit Sheehan at Collins Hill, Williams offered to work out for the coaching staff as Sheehan's receiver.
"Right now, I am waiting," Williams explained. "They will let me know sometime this week."
Williams says South Alabama's coaching staff will wait to see how the rest of the 2013 recruiting class comes together, including other receivers who were offered before his visit.
"Now, I want to wait for South Alabama," Williams said. "The head coach called me into his office before the end of the visit. He told me that he wouldn't waste money on my visit if he didn't like me. They've recruited others at my position, so I have to wait and see how that shakes out."
Williams has also been strongly recruited by Faulkner and has been invited to officially visit during the February 2nd weekend.
"They've told me that I would be a perfect fit to their puzzle," Williams said of Faulkner. "They think I'd work well within the offense. It could also be a great opportunity."
While he's planning his final official visit to Faulkner this weekend, Williams also says that he will make his verbal commitment if and when the South Alabama offer comes.
