Treshon Broughton makes his college choice

Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta defensive back Treshon Broughton took his official visit to Fresno State two weeks ago and decided Thursday morning he was ready to be a Bulldog.

Fresno State landed one of the top cover corners in the West as Treshon Broughton announced for the Bulldogs on Thursday.

"I committed this morning," Broughton said. "I loved my visit two weeks ago and the biggest factor was how close to home the school is. My family is really important to me and they're going to be able to drive to every home game. Plus it's close enough that I'll even be able to go home if I need to.

"I like the coaching staff a lot and the depth chart sets up pretty well for me. They didn't promise me anything in terms of playing time but just said if I come in ready and willing to work hard, I'll play and that's what I plan to do."

Broughton still has work to do in the classroom but is working hard and hopeful he'll be a full qualifier.

"I took the SAT last weekend," Broughton said. "I'm just going to keep taking it as many times as needed and I've been doing well in my classes as well. I've been taking some online classes and getting rid of some of the old grades that were low and replacing them with Bs.

"Fresno State showed a lot of loyalty to me and said they planned to stand by me through this and I appreciated that. I'm really excited about this and so is my family and my coaches. It's a great opportunity for me at Fresno State and I'm very excited to have the recruiting process over and behind me."
