Gantz Heading to Tennessee

Centerville (OH) kicker Andrew Gantz discusses his decision to play in the SEC.

With his senior season over, Centerville (OH) kicker Andrew Gantz was ready to take on his recruitment head on. While having offers from Cincinnati, Portland State and Utah, the senior decided instead to head to the SEC.

"I committed to Tennessee this morning," said Gantz Thursday afternoon. "I will be a preferred walk-on. Unfortunately they already have six specialists on scholarship. The previous coaches had already done that. But they said I should come in and win the job. Once I do that I will be on full scholarship."

The kicker says that Tennessee offers everything he could ask for in a school.

"The facilities are the best in the nation. The coaches are unbelievable and have wanted me ever since they were at Cincinnati. They want me to come in and play for 4 years. It's close to home and has one of the biggest stadiums in the country. And the fan base, loyalty and tradition are amazing! Plus it's in the SEC! It's an amazing school and football program."

So what can the Volunteer fans expect from Gantz in the future?

"I will be the most consistent kicker they have seen in years. I will not be outworked and make sure every time I step on the field in the orange and white that I am the best that I can be. I will put every kickoff in the endzone and help Tennessee make a bowl game this year and win the SEC title and national title in the next four years. Everyone should be expecting greatness from these future Vols and coaches!"
