Mix to Announce Choice On Signing Day

Offensive line prospect Deon Mix discusses his official visit to check out the Auburn Tigers.

Batesville, Miss.--Big Deon Mix said he enjoyed his official visit to Auburn and noted the Tigers are one of four colleges he is considering to sign with on Wednesday.

Saying that he would "pray on his decision" and announce his choice at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the South Panola High standout said Mississippi State, Auburn, Ole Miss and Georgia are his favorites.

Asked what interests him in Auburn, Mix said, "I liked the family environment--the people there and the environment. It is just an awesome city. It is definitely something I will consider.

"I like the whole coaching staff," he added. "They are great men of God."

The U.S. Army All-American lineman made the visit with his mother, his aunt and his sister.

Previously a commitment to Mississippi State, he said the Bulldogs are very much in the running to sign him.

"I had to do some soul searching because I didn't think Mississippi State was the right thing for me at that time," he said of his decision to de-commit from MSU. "I am not counting them out because I have been committed to them for so long so they kind of got the edge."

"I am going to pray about it and whatever is more convenient for me and my family," Mix added.

A standout as a sophomore and junior, he had to overcome an illness as a senior.

"I had mono at the beginning of the season and I didn't know about it," Mix said. "It got real bad and the doctor told me it could have killed me. I had to miss two games, one which happened to be the biggest of the season, the Hoover game, but I worked hard and came back and played the rest of the season."

Mix said that Jordan Diamond was his player host. He said the two had a good time together and noted that he spent time talking to AU's academic counselors about studying business administration or sports broadcasting."
