Cajuns Expect to Sign Exciting Class

Back-to-Back bowl wins have helped Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns secure what could be the highest rated recruiting class in the program's history. Louisiana expects to sign a number of quality athletes on National Day.

Coach Hudspeth and his staff expect to sign a number of top athletes on Wednesday, National Signing Day. With only hours left before the first letter-of-intent can cross the fax machine at the UL athletic offices, a few surprises have began to light Tuesday night. The Cajun Redzone broke the news earlier in the day that West Monroe High commitment Xavier Woods and Louisiana would part ways. Word broke over the past two days that Woods was wavering on his commitment to UL and would wait until Wednesday to make his final decision known. The Cajun staff previously turned down another athlete's commitment in order to take the commitment of Xavier Woods after his visit on January 25th and made the decision not to wait on his final decision before pulling his scholarship offer. The offer was later extended to Walker High's Carlton Perkins whom was waiting on final word from Louisiana before National Signing Day.

Walker's Carlton Perkins (6'0,188), North Miami Senior High's Troy McCollum (6'1,170) and Miami Carol City High's Simeon Thomas (6'3,185) are the latest UL commitments to become public. All three athletes are defensive backs and now give the Cajuns six commitments in the defensive backfield including Holmes CC's Cedric Tillman (5'11,190), Jones County's Corey Trim (5'11,170) and Brunswick High, Ga. Tracy Walker (6'2,180).
