Wright lands late offer

Trinity quarterback Travis recently began hearing a lot from one program. When National Signing Day came and went, Wright thought that the ship had sailed, but that apparently is not the case.

After leading his team to three straight 6-A state championships and one national championship as a junior, Travis Wright waited patiently for a school to recognize his ability and potential and give him an opportunity.

In January, Florida International (FIU) offered Wright a chance to take a trip down to Miami and visit their campus. Wright came away very impressed. The staff asked him to hold on a little longer and they would decide whether or not to offer him.

"I heard from them. They weren't going to offer me," Wright said.

Unsure of what to do next, Wright considered an offer to in-state Centre College and also walk-on opportunities at Louisville and Western Kentucky.

Things changed today when FIU called back.

"Yes, they came through and offered me today," Wright said. "I'm just happy that hard work paid off."

Wright hasn't made a commitment yet, but FOX Sports Next will have the latest when Wright makes his final decision.
