"California offered me," said Downs. "They came to my school (Coach Ingram) about two weeks ago, and he really liked me, it was really cool. I called and spoke to coach Dykes and he offered me. Ingram told me on the phone that I reminded him of a freshman tailback he had at Virginia Tech."
Downs was busy this past weekend, heading to Washington for their junior day event.
"It was fun, I really liked being able to see new stadium," said Downs. "They were telling me their plans for the future."
So what was the pitch of the Husky staff, what were they selling to the recruits?
"They were really selling winning down the road," said Downs. "Coach Tui is the one I talk to the most."
Downs isn't sure if he will attend any other junior days at this point, but will be at some camps.
"Not yet, still working on my schedule," said Downs. "I have a personal trainer to work on my explosion, I'll do track in the spring. I am planning on going to Vegas for the NLA 7on7."
