Duck Offer Excites Bunting

Hinsdale Central (Ill.) class of 2014 WR/TE Ian Bunting talks recent Oregon offer and the possibility of playing college ball a little farther away from home.

Offer number eight arrived for Ian Bunting on Friday when the Oregon Ducks extended one over to the 6'6, 220-lb tight end prospect.

"I was talking to the recruiting guy a lot, Jim Fisher, and then he sent me a message and said they wanted me to call them. It was while I was on the bus to our basketball game, but I couldn't wait, so I called and we were talking about school, my family, their team and then he said at the end, the real reason I wanted to talk to you is to offer you a scholarship. I was pumped to say the least."

Bunting's other offers come from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Northwestern, Purdue and Vanderbilt. He says that the Oregon offer, his first from the Pac-12, is one he will consider.

"It was definitely the highlight of my week. It's my first offer from out west, they're consistently a top ten team in the nation, so that's awesome. I'm definitely very interested."

As for a potential visit to Eugene, Bunting said, "My mom and I were planning on going early April. I think maybe the first weekend. We're checking flights and availability and stuff."

And how would Mom feel about her son playing college football across the country at Oregon?

"It might take some talking, but as long as it's in my best interest, it's going to be in her best interest. As long as I feel it's best for me, she'll be cool with it."

Bunting says he does not have any other visits planned right now, but will set them up once basketball is over.
