The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Blanding narrowed his list to 10 schools back in November – Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Virginia, and West Virginia.
So where will he go?
I believe four schools are still in contention – Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Florida State has an outside chance.
Of the four schools, Blanding has only visited North Carolina and Virginia.
Then there is the pipeline of recent players Bayside has sent to Virginia. In fact, Mike London has landed a Bayside player in all four of his previous recruiting classes.
Another thing to consider, is the strength of Virginia's 2014 class. It is the best in recent memory for the state. So with Blanding deciding early, it could change the entire recruiting landscape for the upcoming year.
After he makes his decision, I expect him to become valuable recruiter for the school he chooses, which could lead to several big-time prospects following him.
We can all speculate where the Bayside star will end up. But rest assured, even after he decides, schools will continue to pursue him because we are a long way from Feb. 5, 2014 – National Signing Day.
