Richard gets the nod from Nebraska

After landing Terrell Newby from California last year, the Huskers are back in the state offering another 2014 running back.

With a steady flow of recent offers, Palmdale high school (CA) running back Demario Richard added the Huskers on Wednesday. The 5-foot-9, 200 pound junior talked with Nebraska running back's coach Ron Brown about the news.

"They are very interested in me visiting down the road. They want a nice size scatback, who can move and run. They think that I'm their guy. They liked what they saw. Coach Brown today asked how many offers I had and then said, 'well add Nebraska to that list,'" said Richard. "I don't know a ton about them at this point. What I do know is they have a nice offensive line and great facilities. They are always it seems like in the top ten in rushing yards and run the ball a lot. I also know they have a great coaching staff."

Richard trains with Run 2 Daylight Running Back Academy and trainer Ayinde Bomani, who has also trained Nebraska signee Terrell Newby over the last year.

"I don't know Terrell that well, but I know him from a few camps and working out with him," said Richard. "We have had the same running back coach. But I'm not really close with him or anything."

As a junior, Richard ran for 1,722 yards and 24 touchdowns, earning offers from UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State so far.

"As of right now, everyone is neutral and equal," said Richard, who's also hearing from USC, Boise State, and Oregon. "People won't know until National Signing Day whether I'm staying close to home or leaving the state."
