Big first offer for McCain

Kalen McCain has flown under the recruiting radar until now. The Durham (N.C.) Hillside safety picked up his first offer on Thursday night.

Kalen McCain was offered by Louisville on Thursday night.

"I called Coach (Brian) Jean-Mary tonight and was talking to him and Coach (Charlie) Strong," said McCain. "They told me that they like the way I play and that I looked like a great athlete. Then he said they were going to offer me."

The 6-2, 175-pound McCain surprised when he got the offer.

"I wasn't expecting the offer," he said. "I was smiling really hard when he told me and I was really excited. It's very special that they are my first offer and I'm very happy."

He will get see a member of the of the Cardinals' coaching staff in a few months.

"Coach Jean-Mary said he was going to come down to my school and see me in April or May," said MaCain.

Along with Louisville, McCain is attracting interest from Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and North Carolina State.

Next up for McCain, will be a trip to Georgia Tech for their junior day on March 9.

During his junior season, McCain registered 36 tackles, four interceptions (returned one for a touchdown), five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
