Curtis making a name for himself

After watching his senior teammate and UCLA signee Kenny Lacy real in national offers this past season, Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe lineman Natrell Curtis picked up an offer from one of the nation's true heavyweight programs on Friday.

Natrell Curtis is rated among the top offensive line prospects in the West but landed arguably his biggest offer on the defensive side of the ball.

"Notre Dame offered me as a nose guard," Curtis said. "I actually have a lot of offers for the defensive line and I don't really have a preference right now but I do like defense a lot. This one was totally unexpected, I wasn't hearing much from Notre Dame and then I talked with Coach Elliot and he told me they wanted to offer.

"Notre Dame is a big time program and I definitely have a lot of interest. I'm going to try and get out there for a visit at some point for sure. I don't know if I'll be able to do an unofficial in the spring or summer but I'll do an official visit there for sure."

Curtis has already visited Arizona State and will check out a few SoCal programs in a couple of weeks.

"I'm going down to Los Angeles for the Nike Camp in two weeks and I'm going to try and visit some schools," Curtis said. "I'll for sure visit UCLA and it would be cool to check out USC too. UCLA has been recruiting me for a while and I have a lot of interest there but haven't heard much from USC yet.

"Right now, it's still early for me and I'm open to everyone. I'm just enjoying the process and excited to see who else comes in and wants to offer. I'm going to play things out and make a decision later in the year."
