Tilghman LBer hoping for an offer

One of the elite players in Western Kentucky, Paducah Tilghman linebacker Derik Overstreet attended his first Junior Day on Saturday. Overstreet was the Louisville's Junior Day along with teammate Darrius Spivey-Nunn.

Paducah Tilghman linebacker Derik Overstreet was listening to everything the University of Louisville coaches told the prospects at Saturday's Junior Day.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Overstreet said he hopes at some point he's listening to the U of L coaches extend him a scholarship offer.

"I had a lot of fun," Overstreet said. "They talked to us about a lot of things. There were eight linebackers in the room. They said they were trying to bring in four or five linebackers in the class.

"I hope they offer at some point."

Overstreet is also hearing from Kentucky and Murray State and will attend a Junior Day at Western Kentucky University this weekend.

As a junior, Overstreet had 92 tackles, including 44 solos. He helped the Blue Tornado defense to an 8-4 record.

"They took us on a tour and showed us the facilities and stuff," Overstreet said. "It was pretty fun. I think my favorite thing though was talking to all the coaches.

"I really like the staff. They gave us an overview of how they play our position and how they run the defense, also what they expect out of the players."

Overstreet said he has heard the most from Louisville. He was in attendance last fall for a game at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Also on the trip was his Paducah Tilghman teammate Darrius Spivey-Nunn.
