How do you follow-up an 3A All-State junior season with 1,231 receiving yards, 29 touchdowns and over 2,000 yards of total offense? For Gabe Fuselier, it means performing against some of the top athletes in the south at the New Orleans Nike Combine and being named to the All-Combine Team.
"I went to the New Orleans Nike Football SPARQ Combine with over 980 athletes on February 2nd," Gabe said. "I really didn't run well (4.6), but it was the first time this spring I ran the forty for any reason. I was named to the ALL-Combine Team with a final 101.58 SPARQ, but I knew I could run better."
Fuselier's efforts earned him a top 25 SPARQ and an invitation to the Houston Nike SPARQ Combine this past Saturday.
"I ran a much better forty (4.4 Laser) this past weekend in Houston," Fuselier stated. "My overal SPARQ was 113, finishing in the top 10 athletes at the combine against some of the best from Texas and other states. I felt much better about that performance and I'm hoping it will get me a few more looks from colleges."
Gabe Fuselier has received early interest from Illinois, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Houston, Louisiana and a few others. He recently received his first junior day invitation from Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
"I received my first junior day invitation to ULL in March," Gabe mentioned. "They are right there in Lafayette and I facebook Coach Jay Johnson sometimes. I'm looking forward to getting a few more junior day invitations and I would like to visit a few campuses and look around at their program."
With Gabe Fuselier's most recent performance at the Houston Nike SPARQ Combine, more junior days are sure to come in March.
Gabe Fuselier reported a 3.2 GPA and 20 ACT on his first test.
