Parrker Wesphal Talking to Florida

There is no secret about the University of Florida's need at cornerback. After signing what amounts to two cornerbacks in the last two recruiting classes for the Gators, Will Muschamp and staff want to take at least three in the 2014 class. One at the top of the board is Bolingbrook (IL) speedster Parrker Westphal and he regularly talks to the Gators.

Parrker Westphal was recently offered by the Gators and his former teammate Antonio Morrison was the one that clued him in just before it went down.

"We played together in my freshman year," Westphal said of the Gators star freshman linebacker Morrison. "He sent me a long text about Florida and told me they were going to offer me before they did."

The Gators try to keep in contact with Westphal and Thursday defensive line coach Bryant Young was on the phone with the young ball hawk. Young is the area recruiter for Bolingbrook and was instrumental in landing Morrison.

"I just got off the phone with Florida the other day, with Coach Young," said Westphal. "He wanted me to come and visit and was asking about the recruiting process. He's real laid back and we talked about how school was going.

"I want to go sometime over spring break or summer."

At 6-1 and 190 pounds, Westphal says he is a "big and physical corner". Just the type of player the Gators are looking for at the position. He says he likes the way the Florida secondary plays.

"They are aggressive and that is my style," he said. "I liked the way that Matt Elam played, he is real aggressive."

The process has another 11 months to conclude for this 2014 star, but he knows what he is looking for in a school.

"I want a school with a good fan base," he says. "I want coaching stability and good academics. Right now I am wide open."

Stay tuned to and FOX Sports NEXT as we keep in touch with the recruitment of Parrker Westphal.
