Scarlett hopes to stay in state

Jordan Scarlett has a long and impressive early offer list and he just added a big in-state program to it. The 2015 running back of University School (Fort Lauderdale, FL) is hoping to stay in the Sunshine State at the next level. The Seminoles offered him this week and he said it was one he was waiting for. Now, he's just waiting on the Gators to offer, but he's thrilled to have FSU on his list.

"I'm really just interested in Florida schools, unless I have to leave out of state," Jordan Scarlett said.

"Miami already offered, UCF offered, South Florida offered me. I was waiting on Florida State and Florida, and now it's just Florida. I'm really excited I got the Florida State offer, so I can try to take a visit up there this spring and see what the campus is like and everything."

Scarlett said his University School coach told him to call FSU Head Coach Jimbo Fischer.

"I gave him a call and I spoke to Coach Fischer and he officially offered me. I was going to try to go up there this spring to check out the campus," he said.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back said he's heard plenty of great things about the Florida State program and he's looking forward to getting to Tallahassee for a visit.

"I have some friends that have gone up there, they said the campus was really nice and it's a fun place to be in Tallahassee. A few of my teammates have visited and they said they liked the football scene and everybody is a family like University School, so I wouldn't mind it," Scarlett said.

"I'm really going to try to stay in state for my family, so I can stay close to home so everybody can watch my games."

Location and family-like atmosphere are the most important things for Scarlett, along with a program where he can also get a good education. He has no favorites and plans to keep an open mind until he can visit some campuses.

"When I talk to my parents and they feel I can go visit and find out a date (to visit FSU). I'm looking to visit USF too along with Florida State, and probably Michigan State," he said.

The sophomore running back also has offers from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and more. Florida is the main in-state program yet to offer the 2015 standout.

"I've heard from them twice, when (Coach Travaris Robinson) came to our school to talk to Quincy Wilson. I just shook his hand and he said he'd be back in the spring to come talk to me," he said.

Scarlett has no plans to make a decision anytime soon, and he's got more than plenty of time before he'll need to.

"It's way in the future, I'm really trying to focus on winning another state championship and I've got two more years to go, so hopefully I'll get stronger and be one of the top recruits in the nation," he said.
