With several invites to practices across the Midwest, Fairfield (Ohio) offensive lineman Danny Burns has visited several programs and added a new offer.
"As of Saturday, I have an offer from West Virginia." said Burns. "They were the very first place I was ever invited to go and visit for a game. I know one of their guys almost set a record at the NFL Combine and really liked it over there when I visited."
While Burns has yet to speak with a member of the Mountaineers coaching staff, they have been in solid contact with the 6-foot-7, 300-pound lineman.
"I heard about the offer on Facebook as I heard from defensive line coach Erik Slaughter," explained Burns. "I didn't know if the offer was right or not, so I had Coach (Jason) Krause, my head coach, do some digging and it turned out it was right.
"I was kind of surprised and still need to call Coach Slaughter soon."
West Virginia is not the only program showing interest as Burns has also visited several other programs the past two weeks.
"I visited Indiana last weekend and liked that visit," said Burns. "I got a chance to see them practice and interact with the players a lot. I definitely could see myself at Indiana as it's a really nice place and I like their team and coaches. It's also a really nice university. They have not offered yet as I just went for their Junior Day.
"I just visited Illinois this weekend and the trip was pretty fun. We got there yesterday (Saturday) and I had a chance to meet with Coach (Tim) Beckman and they seem like a nice group of people. They have not offered yet."
With spring practices getting in full stride Burns also has a few other visits coming up.
"I'm going up with my coach on Tuesday to visit Michigan. Coach (Mark) Smith stopped in school a couple of weeks ago and really wanted me to come up and visit them. Notre Dame is on the 23rd of the month and I'm not sure when we'll get over to Ohio State, but I hope it is soon.
"Coach (Ed) Warinner from Ohio State basically sends me a Facebook message every day they have practice to tell me how it went. He's also sent me a schedule of when they practice and hopefully I get up there soon.
