Illini Offer Beneventi

The first BCS offer is on the board for 2015 Benet (Ill.) quarterback Jack Beneventi, who talks about the offer and his recent visit inside.

Illinois has become the first Big Ten school to offer Benet (Ill.) stellar sophomore quarterback Jack Beneventi.

"I called Coach Cubit, and Illinois offered me," Beneventi said after talking to the staff Sunday. Even though it came just one day after a junior day visit to Champaign, the offer was somewhat sudden for Beneventi.

"I am so excited, I loved my visit there and their offense is a perfect fit for my playing style," Beneventi said. "Plus all the coaches were what I am looking for."

He added, "It really feels great, I am so happy to have an offer from Illinois and I am very grateful."

Illinois is Beneventi's first BCS offer, and at the moment he received it, he didn't quite know what to think.

"My mind was racing, it is a dream come true to get an offer from a Big Ten school," Beneventi said. "Especially from Illinois because how highly rated their academics are, I loved the team, coaches, facilities, and their future plans for the program."

Beneventi also holds offers from Western Michigan and UMass.

"Recruiting is going well overall," Beneventi said. "I have been hearing from Notre Dame, Penn State, Western Michigan UMass and Illinois."

He added, "I am planning on visiting Western Michigan March 23rd, Notre Dame the 24th, and I am trying to set up another visit to Illinois and Penn State."

And as for his visit to Illinois Saturday, that went pretty well too.

"The visit was great overall," Beneventi said. "I was able to meet some of the players, coaches, and see the facilities. I am looking forward to taking another visit to the campus."

There are several things that stood out to Beneventi about the visit in particular.

"I would say my favorite part would be either meeting the team or having time to talk to Coach Cubit and Coach Beckman a lot," Beneventi said.
