Humphreys talks USC offer

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic two-way lineman Connor Humphreys has seen his stock rise considerably in the last month and landed another big offer on Monday.

Connor Humphreys is currently rated the No. 4 defensive end in the West and he would probably be rated among the top five offensive tackles in the region as well. He took an unofficial visit to California a week ago and landed offers from Boston College, Cal, UCLA and Washington State in the last two weeks.

His most recent offer came out of the Pac 12 from one of the nation's heavyweight programs.

"USC offered me today," Humphreys said. "It's a huge accomplishment and a huge honor to get an offer from such a prestigious school that also has a great football program. I talked with Coach Kiffin before over the phone and he said they wanted me to come out and visit and they could offer so I was surprised to get it now but definitely excited.

"I like the coaching staff a lot and have talked to several coaches in the past including Coach Kiffin and Coach Orgeron. This time I talked with Coach Summers, the OL coach and he was the one who offered. They offered me for defensive line but Coach Summers recruits my area."

Humphreys said he's planning to visit USC and UCLA later in April.

"I'm planning to come out to Los Angeles and visit both USC and UCLA in a couple of weeks," Humphreys said. "It's not set in stone, but I'm taking the ACT April 13 and was then going to head to USC for their spring game that day. Then that Sunday, the 14th, I was going to visit UCLA.

"Right now, my plan is to narrow my list to five in June and then visits all those schools over the summer. Then I'll make a commitment to one of them in September or October. I don't really know what that final five will be but I like Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Cal and Arizona State.

"Boise State is another school I've always liked but right now, I'm focusing on the schools that want me for DL. Not that Boise State is out of the running, I just haven't decided if I want to play OL or DL yet and until I do, I'm going to stay focused on the DL offers."
