Dallas NFTC: All-Sleeper Defense

A look at which defensive players surprised and showed that they deserve even more recruiting attention at the Dallas Nike Football Training Camp...

DL: Sione Teuhema, (Keller, Texas)

Look for his recruiting to continue to pick up, on the thin side now, but has a great frame and will get bigger over time.

DL: Justin Hollins, (Prime Prep, Texas)

One of those lightning quick off the edge types. He embarrassed an offensive tackle in one-on-ones. He and Josh Ehambe make a nice set of DEs for Prime Prep.

LB: Bradley Ivey, (Bishop Miege Kan.)

Ivey tested well posting a 4.67 40-yard dash, but the strongest part of his game is his understanding for the LB position.

LB: Tim Quickel (North Little Rock, Ark.)

People were calling him "mini Clay Mathews" and he lived up to the billing on the camp stage. He tested off the charts and can cover ground quickly.

DB: Quinlan Gaines, (Little Elm, Texas)

Did not go through the testing but was very good locking down receivers in the drills. Is long and lean, but not gangly. He can sink and run.

DB: Mayomi Olootu, (Allen, Texas)

Did not start with top group of DBs at the end of the camp, but after dominating receivers in his group he got moved up. Great feet and lateral movement.

DB: Kavin Alexander (North Little Rock, Ark.)

Tested through the roof and had the weekend's top Sparq, top 40-yard dash and top pro-shuttle. But also did well in all drills.

DB: Jyaz Jones (South Oak Cliff, Texas)

At 6'1, 180 pounds Jones really moves well. Players of his size are not supposed to move in the way he does. A 4.01 shuttle shows that athleticism.
