State of MS High on Blomstrom

FOX Sports NEXT has the update on Katy linebacker Jake Blomstrom, who recently made a tour through the state of Mississippi to visit a couple of schools.

Everything happened quickly.

He had interest from a couple of programs and even had one offer, but it wasn't until recently that Katy (TX) linebacker Jake Blomstrom started getting interest from schools in the southern region.

Even more so, from the same state.

"I have a friend who has some ties to Ole Miss. That's how I got there," Blomstrom said. "The coaches there seem like they want to offer."

According to Blomstrom, the Rebel coaches got a hold of his video and liked what they saw. So that is how the Katy linebacker ended up at the Ole Miss junior day. On top of that, within the same weekend, the 6-2, 225-pound Blomstrom also visited Southern Miss and met with those coaches as well.

When it was all said and done, one school left more than a favorable impression.

"The campus of Ole Miss was impressive. And the coaches were great," Blomstrom said. "They want me to camp in person this summer. We will see if an offer happens after that. The coaches told me that if they like what they see, then I could get an offer."

Speaking of offers, Blomstrom holds one of those now with Rice in hand. Aside from this, interest coming from Colorado, Boise State, LSU and Oklahoma is also in play for Blomstrom.

But there is more coming from the state of Mississippi.

"I will probably be at Mississippi State on April 20 for the spring game. I have gotten several handwritten letters from the coaches this past week," Blomstrom said.

At the moment, there are no favorites for Blomstrom as he looks to stay open and see what transpires during spring practice when a multitude of coaches will be making their way to West Houston.

Last season, Blomstrom finished the year with close to 120 tackles.
