Florida OL Harkless picks Louisville

The University of Louisville football programs roll of commitments continued on Tuesday afternoon as the Cardinals landed a sixth pledge for the Class of 2014. Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian offensive lineman Kavaris Harkless became the latest prospect to give Charlie Strong a commitment.

Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian offensive lineman Kavaris Harkless had picked up more than a half-dozen BCS scholarship offers in the past month.

But on Tuesday, Harkless decided to end the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound offensive lineman called University of Louisville coach Charlie Strong and gave the Cardinals a commitment.

"I picked Louisville after praying about it and my heart is just set on them," Harkless said. "Coach Strong and coach (Ron) Dugans are great coaches and I just can't wait to play for them at Louisville. Great coaches and a great atmosphere."

An athletic lineman and second-team All-State selection as a junior, Harkless also had offers from Maryland, Iowa State, Duke, Minnesota and Central Florida. He also had interest from Vanderbilt, Ohio State and North Carolina.

Harkless is a prospect who has emerged after putting weight on his frame. He was around 245 pounds this time last year and is now close to 280.

Harkless is the sixth commitment in the Class of 2014 for Louisville and the fourth in the past six days. He's the fourth three-star to go along with a four-star prospects in the fold for the Cardinals.
