Lezzer Checks Out Pitt

Christian Lezzer talks about his recent trip to Pittsburgh, and what other schools could be coming in to check him out.

Clearfield (PA) linebacker Christian Lezzer already has a handful of offers, but he is taking time this spring to check on a few other schools who are interested.

One of those schools is Pittsburgh, and Lezzer was there to watch the Panthers run through spring practice. It's also a follow up visit to Pittsburgh. Lezzer's high school head coach is Tim Janocko, father of former Pitt walk-on Andrew Janocko who now works for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I just watched practice, watched the linebackers practice," Lezzer said. "I got a good feel for Pittsburgh. It's definitely fun just watching football this time of year."

Lezzer also went to Old Dominon, Kent State and Penn State in recent weeks. He's also hoping to take trips to Rutgers and Boston College.

Receivers coach Bobby Engram and linebackers coach Chris Haering are recruiting him at Pitt.

"I've talked to coach Engram a few times before, and I feel pretty good about my relationship with him and coach Haering," Lezzer said. "Coach Haering is coming in, in a couple weeks. My coach, coach Janocko talked coach (Paul) Chryst, and he said they want to see me work out."

Janocko, who holds offers from Boston College, Bucknell, Kent State and Temple, expects other schools to come in and watch him work out as well.

As a junior in 2012, Lezzer finished with 3,107 all purpose yards on offense with 43 touchdowns. Defensively, he finished with 12.5 sacks--the most of any player in the state. He also blocked a punt, had five passes broken up and four fumble recoveries.
