The Missouri Tigers hunt for a second Tight End prospect to add to their recruiting class for 2014 takes them down to Texas, where a rising two sport athlete speaks to ShowMeMizzou.com about his Mizzou offer.

The Missouri Tigers have extended a scholarship offer to 2014 TE prospect Mavin Saunders  6’5”  230  Houston (TX) Kincaid.   Recently, Saunders spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his Missouri offer, and he updated us on his recruitment.

“Missouri offered me through my head coach,”   explained Saunders.    “I look at it as a blessing.   I really appreciate it.”

Saunders said that he has received scholarship offers from Florida State, Illinois, and Texas A&M, in addition to Missouri.

Saunders explained that last season, his junior year, was his first year playing football.   He played wide receiver for his high school team.   He’s been playing basketball for years.

“I played receiver,”   explained Saunders, speaking of his one year of high school football.    “We don’t have a tight end in our system………………………………..  Most of the schools that are recruiting me as a tight end, they’re recruiting me as a flex receiver.”

Saunders said that he does not have a favorite at this time.

“My recruiting is wide open right now,”   said Saunders.

“I want to go someplace where they’re going to throw me the ball,”   said Saunders, beginning to list his criteria for choosing a school.   “I’m looking for a good campus, and good academics.   I’m going to look at it from the whole perspective.”

Saunders plans to major in business.   He indicated that it is very early in his recruitment.   He hasn’t taken any visits, but he intends to schedule some visits after the school year.

I’ll have more on Saunders later.
