Washington Road Trip Notebook

Recruiting notes from some of the top players Scout saw on its trip through Washington...

  • Mountlake Terrace (Wash.) fullback Devante Downs visited Washington this past weekend for the Huskies' Spring Game.  The top-ranked fullback nationally, Downs has double-digit offers and plans to visit Cal and Stanford unofficially next month when he's in the Bay Area for the Oakland NFTC.  Downs said he'll likely decide at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

  • Fife (Wash.) offensive tackle Kaleb McGary is up to 10 offers, with Wisconsin offering him on Sunday.  The Badgers followed Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State, California, Utah, Boise State and Nebraska.  Stanford, UCLA, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Ole Miss, Michigan, Florida State and San Diego State have been in recent contact with the four-star.

  • Bellevue (Wash.) defensive tackle Marcus Griffin has offers from Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado State and Washington State and the Cougars are the heavy leader for Griffin, who nearly committed there on his most recent visit.  Griffin said that California, Arizona State, USC, UCLA and Oregon State are also showing interest in him.

  • Federal Way (Wash.) 2015 running back Chico McClatcher has offers from Arizona State, Portland State, Utah and Washington and said that USC and Oregon have also been expressing interest.  McClatcher said USC plans to see him this spring and that in working out with Max Browne over spring break, Browne has been talking to the USC coaches about him.

  • Bellevue (Wash.) offensive lineman Morgan Richey has a pair of offers, from Idaho and North Dakota and is also hearing steadily from Boise State, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington.

  • Sammamish (Wash.) Eastlake safety Drew Lewis has four offers, from Arizona State, Pittsburgh, Washington State and Wyoming.  Arizona State, where he visited earlier this spring, is the slight favorite over Pitt, where his brother Ryan plays, and where he visited for their spring game.
  • Federal Way (Wash.) defensive back Keenan Curran has offers from San Jose State and Idaho and said that Arizona State, Boise State, Cal and Oregon State were all planning to come by this spring and he plans to camp at Washington this summer.

  • Bellevue (Wash.) 2015 offensive tackle Henry Roberts has one offer, from Washington, and the Huskies were who he grew up rooting for.  Roberts is also hearing from Oregon, Boise State, Stanford, UCLA and USC.

  • Mountlake Terrace (Wash.) defensive end Jevin Pahinui is still waiting for his first offer, but is hearing from Boise State, Washington State, Arizona State, San Jose State, Missouri, Washington and Oregon State.  Pahinui visited Boise State for their spring game two weeks ago.

  • Bellevue (Wash.) defensive lineman Shane Bowman is waiting for his first offer but Washington State and Idaho both called him last week.  He visited Arizona State for Junior Day and tripped to Washington State over the weekend and is also interested in Boise State and UCLA.

  • Fife (Wash.) defensive tackle Monike Failauga is still looking for his first offer but Washington, Washington State and Boise State have all been in contact.
  • Federal Way (Wash.) 2015 linebacker Jared Pulu, has two schools that stand out to him, Boise State and Oregon State.  He has two brothers that play at Eastern Washington, and he's hearing from them too.
