Mixon visits USC

2014 running back Joe Mixon made a weekend of it in Southern California with his TMP 7on7 team. Mixon took an unofficial visit to USC and attended UCLA's spring game before playing in the Passing Down 7on7 tournament on Sunday.

It's down to the Sweet 16 for 2014 Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon.

The four-star recruit has a list of offers as far as the eye can see, but Mixon says he was able to nearly cut it in half by the schools who are recruiting him the hardest.

"There are a couple schools from every conference that I'm looking at," Mixon explained at Passing Down's 7on7 Best of the West in Southern California.

Though he spared us from listing all 16 on camera, Mixon is able to distinguish a few of the schools recruiting him by the amount of mail he receives.

Asked who has sent him the most mail Mixon said "Probably Washington, Oregon State, or Tennessee."

As for the schools who are not only sending mail but are recruiting the 6-foot 195 pound back the hardest he said "Washington, they've been recruiting me hard… UCLA, USC, Georgia, WisconsinOklahoma. Those are the ones mainly."

On Saturday before playing in Sunday's Passing Down, Mixon joined his TMP teammates taking an unofficial visit to USC and then went to the Rose Bowl for UCLA's spring game.

"I have a lot of interest in [both] of them," he said. "There's a lot of opportunity to come in and start as a true freshman."

It was nice," Mixon said about his trip to USC. "I got to watch a lot of film with coach [Clay] Helton and he just went over the offense with me and how I fit perfectly in there."

Mixon noted that he didn't get to see UCLA's campus but liked the environment at the spring game. "I felt like I could fit in any offense, but the Bruins offense they are very explosive," he explained. "They came out with a lot of fire and I think I could come in and play as a true freshman.
