Southern Miss offensive line coach Petey Perot stopped by the Sabine Parish seat of Many, Louisiana, today to meet with MHS head coach Jess Curtis. What was said?
Petey Perot knew about Many 2015 offensive tackle Garrett Thomas
heading into today's visit with MHS head coach Jess Curtis, and the veteran college recruiter departed with two more names on his list.
"Coach Perot came to talk about Garrett," Curtis said. "He'd let me know he was going to pass by and drop off some literature about Southern Miss.
"(Perot) coached (Many product) Clay Hopkins at Louisiana Tech, and he coached Willie Roaf there. He loves Garrett. He saw Garrett's film and noted how Garrett flies off the ball."
Curtis has two more sophomore linemen that he discussed with Perot: DL Jamairous Newton and OT Hunter Dubois.
"It was Coach Perot's first time to learn about the other kids," Curtis said. "He's excited about Garrett and is going to keep an eye on the other two."
LSU and Alabama are due any day now at Many to check on the progress of Thomas, a 6-6, 295-pounder with offers from Michigan and Auburn.
Many went 8-5 last fall and reached the Class 2A quarters.
