First Offer For Ohio Safety

Lakewood St. Edward is one of Ohio's top talent producing schools, and the Eagles have a fine 2014 safety prospect in Jack Walz. Florida Atlantic became Walz's first offer Wednesday.

Jack Walz might be one of Ohio's more underrated football players, but there is no doubting the Lakewood St. Edward safety is one of the toughest.

Walz, 6-foot, 195-pounds, has played a number of positions for the Eagles on both sides of the football, but he projects as a hard-hitting safety at the next level. He landed his first offer Wednesday.

"I was offered by Florida Atlantic," Walz stated. "They were at the school a few weeks ago and we started talking. They told my coach to have me call them, and they offered me on the phone today (Wednesday). They are offering me as a defensive back, and I believe they offered me off my film."

"I was totally surprised they offered, but I'm very excited," he added. "It seems like the weight of the world is off my shoulders, and I can relax a little bit. I'd like to get down there to check out the school."

"I have a lot of schools that say they like me, but need to see me in camp," he continued. "Michigan State, Illinois, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Navy, Air Force and Virginia Tech have been at my school. I want to go to as many camps as possible this summer."

St. Edward plays against the top schools in Ohio, so level of competition is not an issue with Walz. As teams see him work out in person his offer list should be expanding.
