Which Way for Wilder?

The Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic quarterback, Aidan Wilder, may end up at a different position in college, and his position could affect where he goes...

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic athlete Aidan Wilder, (6-0, 190), is hoping for an opportunity to play quarterback.

At the same time, Wilder is just looking for an opportunity to play college football.

Some FBS schools like Wilder as an athlete, while some FCS schools like him as a quarterback.

It's a quandary that Wilder is willing to find himself in.

"I've got to decide do I want to play D-I and be an athlete, or play quarterback at a smaller level," said Wilder. "Quarterback has always been my first love and what I've always played and what I started with. But some schools think I'm better suited as an athlete."

Hometown Portland State likes Wilder as a quarterback.

"I've heard from Portland State coaches and they're thinking quarterback," said Wilder.

Meanwhile, Colorado State, Boise State, Utah and Utah State are all thinking receiver could be where he ends up.

"At the FBS level, it's more as an athlete, so I'll move myself around and on offense, maybe do more slot to make myself more recruitable," said Wilder. "But the I-AA, D-II level, they like me as a quarterback."

Wilder has been working on both sides of the ball this spring and plans to in the summer, to make himself more appealing.

This summer, he'll camp at Utah, Utah State bad Boise State. Portland State and Colorado State are expected to come by the school this spring too.

He'll also do the Barton Showcase and the Oregon NFTC.

Academically, he has a 3.6 and will take the SAT this month.

Brandon is in his ninth year with Scout.com and FOXSportsNext, currently as a National Recruiting Analyst and West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout Network since 2003.
