"Their recruiter said there's no way I'm a sophomore," Register said. "He wanted to see film, and told my coach I should be the number one prospect in Louisiana when I'm a senior."
The Golden Eagles are looking to make the jump on SEC schools.
"They said I should be offered before spring of next year," Register said. "My coach told them it's going to be tough to get me once the big dogs from the SEC start offering, and that they should make sure I feel the love early."
Register played on both sides of the ball last year for the Class 5A Spartans.
He and older brother Hayward Register, a hoops signee with the local Ragin' Cajuns, lifted Comeaux to a No. 3 playoff seed and deep run in this year's basketball playoffs.
The 6-4, 180-pound sophomore listed the following programs of interest: Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia, Texas A&M, Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, LSU and Southern Miss.
