First Offer For Ohio Sophomore

One of the more impressive sophomore defensive linemen in Ohio last season was Cincinnati St. Xavier's Simeon Lane, who has is being looked at by several schools. Lane landed his first offer last week.

Simeon Lane impressed last season as a rare sophomore starter for Cincinnati St. Xavier. The defensive tackle is a top 2015 prospect in Ohio.

Lane, 6-foot-1, 290-pounds, is receiving plenty of recruiting attention and he received his first scholarship offer this past week.

"I was offered by Illinois," Lane stated. "My head coach called me over and introduced me to Coach (Alex) Golesh from Illinois, and later in the day they offered. I've been there a couple times and really like it."

"I've been talking to a lot of schools lately, but I was really happy to get my first offer," he added. "It makes me feel great that a Big Ten school gave me my first offer, and I'm very interested in Illinois."

Several other programs are showing interest in Lane, and many have visited St. Xavier in the past few weeks.

"Michigan State, Indiana, Louisville, Northwestern, Kentucky and Central Michigan have all been in my school," he admitted. "I've gotten a lot of schools want me to come to camp, like Arkansas, Duke, Oregon State and a lot of other schools. My dad and I are in the process of putting together a schedule for camps this summer."

Lane has been working hard in the off season to become an even better player.

"I've been working on a lot of agility drills at school," Lane continued. "I'm also working on strength and my pass rush moves. I'm up to 290-pounds now, so I've added a lot of good weight so far."
