Dowell, 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, took a visit to Northwestern last Saturday and also participated in Sunday's Nike Football Training Camp.
"The Northwestern visit was great and we got to meet the entire coaching staff," Dowell stated. "We toured the weight room and the facilities, as well as the entire campus. Overall, it was a great experience."
"The coaches talked about the recruiting process and gave us some advice," he added. "They are recruiting my brother (Andrew) as well, and they are going to be in touch over the next year. They told us they would be recruiting us going forward, and my brother and I are both very interested in Northwestern."
Several other programs have been to St. Edward to check out Dowell, and he is a hot 2015 prospect.
"Penn State was in the school last week and they want Andrew and I to come to their camp," he explained. "Cincinnati was also in the school last week. About two weeks ago, Coach (Stan) Drayton from Ohio State was here to see us, which was great. In the past few weeks, Michigan, Michigan State and Oregon were all at our school."
"We still have to decide what camps to attend, and we will definitely be going to Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State," he continued. "I also think Penn State, Northwestern, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh will be schools we camp at as well. Those are the main schools we want check out."
In addition to performing at the Nike Camp last weekend in Illinois, Dowell will also be at the Columbus Nike event in early June.
