Bears offer 2015 DT

The Baylor Bears made a power move with the initial scholarship offer to Calvary Baptist (Shreveport) sophomore DT T.D. Moton...

Baylor defensive line coach Chris Achuff extended an offer to 6-4, 310-pound wrecking ball T.D. Moton.

"Coach Achuff had 'Facebooked' me and told me to call him," Moton recounted. "When I did, he said I have an offer and told me to give him my coach's number.

"I gave him the number for Coach (Ronnie) Alexander at our school. I'm really thankful for the offer. I told Coach Achuff that I appreciated it and he said, 'No problem, son.'"

Moton and Achuff already have forged a relationship.

"We've been talking for a while," Moton said. "We have conversations about personal stuff.

"I feel good...real happy. This offer puts a whole new atmosphere and perspective on things. I'm a lot more hungry now."

Moton plans his debut visit to Baylor on June 8th.

"That's their first camp of the summer," he said.

Moton's head coach at Calvary Baptist -- located in south Shreveport -- is John Bachman, who led Evangel Christian to state titles before taking over the helm of ECA's arch-rival.

Calvary is penciled in as the Class 2A favorite after defending champ John Curtis Christian moved up to 3A. Evangel and University Lab, both former 2A power brokers, will join Curtis.

Calvary reached the 2A quarters last fall (lost to University, 19-7).

Moton notched a season-high 10 stops in a district loss to Mansfield.

The Cavaliers (9-4) defeated 5A kingpins West Monroe and Carencro.
