First Offer for Ugwoegbu

FOX Sports NEXT caught up with Seven Lakes defensive Bright Ugwoegbu from Katy, Texas, who just let us know that offer No. 1 has arrived.

It was just a couple of weeks ago when FOX Sports NEXT was out in West Houston checking in on a couple of programs. At that time, we met Katy (TX) Seven Lakes safety Bright Ugwoegbu, a solid prospect who had the look and the game of a Division I prospect.

At the time, he had no offers, until this past Friday.

"I just received my first off from Fresno State on Friday and I'll be planning to visit there soon," Ugwoegbu informed FOX Sports NEXT.

The first one in is always a pivotal one and the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Ugwoegbu recognizes that. When we checked in on him last, schools like Colorado, Minnesota, UCLA, Missouri, LSU, Mississippi State, Tulsa, UTEP and Rice were all giving him a look.

So far, Baton Rouge, LA and Houston, TX are the only cities he has traveled to for visits, which are the LSU and Rice programs respectively, but now soon add Fresno State, and possibly Colorado to that list.

"It's (Fresno State offer) the first and it feels great. Knowing that you have the chance to keep pursuing your goal at the Division I level is just amazing," Ugwoegbu said.

Last season, Ugwoegbu recorded 54 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception.
