Calhoun has decision timeframe in mind

There was a time when El Cerrito (Calif.) linebacker D.J. Calhoun talked about making an early decision, possibly sometime in the summer. Those plans have been scrapped and the athlete will take a few official visits before deciding.

D.J. Calhoun was one of the top linebackers at the NIKE Camp in Oakland over the weekend. He measured in at 6-0, 205 pounds and tested very well with a 4.3 shuttle time and a 32" vertical leap.

He showed explosive speed in the position drills, ability to change direction and plays with a passion that few have, regardless of position. He's a natural leader and the way he carries himself on and off the field, you can tell he'll be a captain of whatever college he chooses.

On the recruiting front, Calhoun said he has an ideal scenario for when he would like to make a decision.

"If I'm selected for the Army All-American game, I would love to do it there," Calhoun said. "If I'm not picked, then I plan to do it during our bye week this season, which I believe is either in week five or week seven.

"I want to take all my visits if I can and two will for sure be Arizona State and Miami. I'm not really sure after that. I've already been to California, UCLA and USC multiple times so I don't think I need to use an official on them. Right now, I'm still open to everyone and looking forward to going through the process and seeing how it plays out."
