"Recruiting is going well," Carlson said. "I picked up an offer from Miami of Ohio a few days ago."
Other than Toledo and Miami of Ohio, Carlson has three other offers.
"I have offers from Toledo, Western Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Yale and Colgate," Carlson said.
And as for recruiting, it is a process that the Glenbard West standout is enjoying.
"Overall it's been going very smoothly with a mix of some of the top academic schools as well as MAC scholarship offers," Carlson said. "It has been stressful at some points but it's very exciting talking to coaches and creating opportunities for myself in the future."
Carlson has seen interest in his recruitment pick up, especially after a big state championship performance where Glenbard West took home the 7A title.
"I am getting pretty positive feedback from coaches," Carlson said. "Most of them would like to see me at camps or on their campus."
He added, "The only camp I'm pretty much sure of is the Northwestern one."
There are several other visits that Carlson is planning on taking as well.
"I would like to go see Miami of Ohio and Western Michigan soon," Carlson said. "Also, maybe get out East and see some of the Ivy's like Cornell and Yale again."
And as for the Hitters, coming off a state title have pretty big plans for the season.
"We have high expectations for our team, especially coming off a state championship," Carlson said. "That is just always the mindset of our program but we are just going to take it one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves."
