Liggins Draws First Offer

The state of Mississippi is full of talented 2014 football prospects. The latest Magnolia Stater to pick up a scholarship offer is Oxford High School defensive end Darius Liggins. Liggins put together a solid showing at the Mississippi State football camp earlier today. Before he left for home, Liggins had an offer from the Bulldogs.

"After camp today, I got to meet with Coach (Dan) Mullen," said Liggins. "He told me that I had an offer from them and to call him when I was ready to commit."

The rangy defensive end reports that he had a nice rapport with Bulldog defensive line boss David Turner.

"I had a good time with Coach Turner today," said Liggins. "He showed me a lot and he taught me a lot of things that will help me.

"He talked a lot about me using my hands more.

"I like him a lot and I think he's a good coach.

"I like Mississippi State. I think that would be a good place to go if I went there."

Despite the euphoria of his first offer, Liggins reports that he feels no need to rush his decision.

"I am probably going to wait and make my decision late in the football season or after the season," said Liggins. "I am going to wait and see what all of my option are before I make a commitment."

Liggins reports that he plans to take in a few more college camps this summer including a possible trip to Southern Miss.

The rising edge rusher is also expected back for the Mississippi State Big Dawg camp in July.
