Pack Hosts Vincent

NC State recently hosted four-star cornerback Troy Vincent for an unofficial visit.

NC State got somewhat of a late start with Baltimore (MD) Gilman School cornerback Troy Vincent but has made up considerable ground after hosting the four-star prospect on a couple of recent visits.

With offers on the table from NC State, Wisconsin, UNC, Michigan State, Notre Dame and approximately 20 others, Vincent certainly appears deserving of his lofty recruiting ranking. The 5-10, 175 pound defensive back was in Raleigh last week and talked about why he was making his second visit to Raleigh in the span of about a month.

"I like the staff here and that's why I keep coming back, so I can better feel for the school and the staff and see what they have to offer from an academic standpoint. It's an ACC program so you know they're going to play some good competition."

Vincent told Pack Pride that he was originally recruited by former Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien but things fell silent after the coaching change. However, Wolfpack CB coach Richard McNutt has helped change all that.

"Because with the whole staff change it was kind of like a dead period where there wasn't any communication just because I didn't know where I stood with them offer wise," said Vincent. "But now I'm back in their good grace.

"Coach McNutt is recruiting me and I like him. He knows what he's coaching and that's all you can ask because he knows what he's talking about. It doesn't get better than him."

Vincent appeared close to finalizing his college plans recently but now seems to have taken a step back and is continuing to evaluate all of his options.

"Right now I don't have any top schools. I'm just seeing everything, talking to my family about everything and just trying to come to a decision.

"I don't really have a time frame for a decision right now but I am working to try to narrow things down."
