Tigers On Top For Florida Teammates?

ShowMeMizzou.com has the very latest on a pair of teammates from the state of Florida, who updated us on where their recruitment is at, a planned trek to Missouri next month, and where the Tigers fit among their list of offers.

A pair of teammates from Florida are planning a mid-summer visit to Missouri. According to 2014 TB prospect Trevon Walters 5’11” 195 Bradenton (FL) Manatee, who recently spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com, he and his teammate, 2014 OT prospect Jake Stickler 6’6” 274 Bradenton (FL) Manatee, will take unofficial visits to Missouri next month.

“I’m going to try to visit (Missouri) in late July with one of my teammates, Jake Stickler,” said Walters. “We’re going to come up there next month. I don’t know what day yet, but we’ve already talked about it. So, we’re working on it.”

Walters has spent his summer working out with his high school team, and he recently joined several of his teammates on a trip to Florida State and Tulane for camps, and unofficial visits to LSU, UCF and USF.

At the Florida State camp, Walters ran a 4.52 forty and posted a vertical jump of 36”, and a standing broad jump of 9’11”. Those testing numbers are very close to his previously reported personal bests of 4.44 seconds in the forty-yard dash, to go along with a 37” vertical, 10’0" broad jump, 4.34 shuttle, 305-pound max in the bench press, and 16 reps in the bench press at 225 pounds.

Walters reports offers from Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Marshall, Minnesota, Toledo, and USF, in addition to Missouri. He said that Boise State, Florida State, Iowa State, Louisville, and Tulane are schools that may be close to offering.

“I stood out at (the) Florida State (camp),” explained Walters. “They said that they’re going to offer me, but I think they want to see how my senior year goes.”

I asked Walters if a Florida State offer would change things in his recruitment?

“Probably not,” replied Walters. “I really want to leave out of Florida.”

Earlier, Walters had identified Missouri as one of his top two schools. He pointed out that Missouri was his first SEC offer. And, he likes the Missouri offense, which is very similar to the offense he plays in at Manatee.

“Missouri is one of my top schools,” explained Walters. “As a matter of fact, (Missouri) is probably my first school right now.”

Earlier, Walters had indicated that he’d like to make an early decision, but that he could wait until during or after the season. He talked about the possibility of an early decision.

“My plan was to make my decision before the first game, or sometime after the first game,” explained Walters. “That was my plan. It still could be. But, I’m not sure, yet.”

He suggested that his Missouri visit could affect his decision time-table.

Walters said that Jake Stickler has been receiving increased recruiting attention. He said that he and Stickler both “like Missouri”.

More than three weeks ago, Stickler had told ShowMeMizzou.com that he was leaning toward Missouri and that Missouri was at the top of his list of schools.

“He actually told me personally that Missouri is his top school right now,” said Walters, talking about Stickler
