The Opening: Midlands What to Expect

Look at the players from the Midlands in The Opening and what to expect from them. The Opening will start on Sunday June 30th in Beaverton, Oregon and end on July 3rd..

Armani Watts - DB - North Forney (Texas)

Watts should show some advancement in playing against top competition after a decent showing at the Dallas NFTC.

Arrion Springs - DB - San Antonio (Texas) Roosevelt

Will confirm that he is one of the most athletic players in the Midlands. Should be making a commitment to Oregon during the event.

Brandon Simmons - DB - Mansfield (Texas) Timberview

Many people are sleeping on the talented defensive back. Will show ranginess and ball skills some do not believe he has.

Chris Hardeman - DB - Houston (Texas) Alief Taylor

Hardeman should be one of the more physical defensive backs in coverage.

David Blough - QB - Carrollton (Texas) Creekview

A very consitent performer and a gritty leader. Will not flash the biggest arm, but will hold his own.

David Cornwell - QB - Norman (Okla.) North

Cornwell could prove that he has the biggest arm in the country and make a statement for a higher positional and regional ranking.

Demetrius Knox - OL - Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints

Knox has been solid in all non-padded competition. Has the range of an OT and the backside of an OG.

Dylan Sumner-Gardner - DB - West Mesquite (Texas)

One of the more physically impressive defensive backs, Sumner-Gardner will be a ringleader for the Texas A&M class.

Edward Paris - DB - Mansfield (Texas) Timberview

Paris will show that he has the size of a safety, but the knack for making plays on the ball like a corner.

Edwin Freeman - LB - Arlington (Texas) Bowie

His experience at the safety position will help him be one of the best linebackers in pass coverage.

Jacob Bragg - OL - Nacogdoches

Bragg will show that his performance at the Dallas NFTC was not a fluke and that Kansas got a steal.

Jamal Adams - DB - Lewisville (Texas) Hebron

Rated much higher on Scout than other services nationally, Adams will back up that ranking with his showing.

Jerrod Heard - QB - Denton (Texas) Guyer

Considered as a runner, Heard will likely be one of the best in the 7-on-7 action. He is very accurate and thinks quickly.

John Bonney - DB - Houston (Texas) Lamar

Bonney is yet another defensive back who could fill multiple roles in a defensive backfield. Will find out what position suits him best.

K.D. Cannon - WR - Mount Pleasant (Texas)

He is one of the quickest receivers in and out of his breaks and has big, strong hands made for catching passes.

Lorenzo Joe - WR - Abilene (Texas) Cooper

Plays quarterback in high school, but will show that he is a natural pass catcher and advanced route runner.

Matthew Adams - LB - Fort Ben (Texas) Hightower

Matthews is a slightly undersized linebacker, but shows advanced pass coverage knowledge and the speed to hang.

Solomon Thomas - DL - Coppell (Texas)

Thomas has a big frame, but has the speed, quickness and certainly the power to be a strongside defensive end. Will push for a fifth star.

T.V. Williams - WR - McKinney (Texas)

Could be this year's Colin Spencer. A recruit who comes in and makes a strong move up the rankings list and stands out in the Sparq.

Tony Brown - DB - Beaumont (Texas) Ozen

Brown has been concentrating on track mostly in the off-season, but will show the lock down skill and running ability of an NFL caliber talent.
