The Big Board focuses on Notre Dame
's top targets at each position, including those that have reciprocated Irish interest. Today's review is of the program's top targets on offense:
Hickey's Top QB Target
-- Barring an unexpected prospect rising to the scene, Notre Dame is likely set at the quarterback position for 2014 after securing a commitment from DeShone Kizer
Hickey's Top TE Target
-- Tyler Luatua
(La Mirada, California): Luatua has set only set one official in stone: Notre Dame the weekend of Oct. 17. He's planning to visit Alabama, Ohio State and Texas and as well. The Irish currently lead for Luatua, and he is planning on taking all five of his officials before he decides.
Hickey's Top RB Targets
-- Joe Mixon
(Oakley, California): He has a top 16, which includes Notre Dame, and plans on cutting that list to 10 within the next couple of weeks. Oklahoma and Georgia are the two schools he knows that will receive officials. Mixon doesn't plan to decide until next January and securing an official visit would be big for the Irish. Mixon is Notre Dame's top running back target.
-- Curtis Samuel
(Brooklyn, New York): Released a top five in May of (alphabetically) Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Rutgers. Has only visited Rutgers out of that group, so wherever else he decides to schedule visits should be telling. If Alabama offers, the Tide could be the team to beat.
-- Donte Thomas-Williams
(Durham, North Carolina) – Kept Notre Dame among his list of favorites after visiting last week. His top four consists of (alphabetically) Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame, and West Virginia. He told IrishEyes.com that he will give Notre Dame an official visit.
Hickey's Top OL Targets
-- OT/OG Damien Mama
(Bellflower, California): He plans on officially narrowing his list in the near future, and the Irish could be left off. His top schools right now are Alabama, UCLA and USC, but Notre Dame will likely still push for an official visit.
-- OT Braden Smith
(Olathe, Kansas): Placed Notre Dame in his top three (TCU, Texas A&M) after he visited in March. He's still very much interested in South Carolina, Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama, but the Irish look to be in great shape for an official visit.
Hickey's Top WR Targets
-- Mark Andrews
(Scottsdale, Arizona): Being recruited the hardest by Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas A&M and UCLA. He's a teammate of Kyle Allen
, who is pushing for him to join him at A&M and Andrews' only visit set for this summer is to A&M in July. The Sooners and Aggies are likely in the best position for Andrews.
-- Erik Brown
(Fontana, California): Notre Dame may have positioned itself as Brown's No. 1 after extending an offer in early June. He is also high on UCLA and Washington, and should USC offer, the Trojans would be the biggest competition.
-- Corey Holmes
(Fort Lauderdale, Florida): He's down to Notre Dame and UCLA. He visited the Irish earlier this month with his entire family for a fourth time, and he will visit UCLA July 8 before making a final decision. Notre Dame feels great about its chances.
-- Allen Lazard
(Urbandale, Iowa): Iowa State commit and legacy who was offered by Notre Dame after he committed. Has a close relationship with safeties coach Bob Elliott, knowing him from his time at Iowa State. Lazard enjoyed his visit to Notre Dame June 10, but if a flip were to happen, it would more than likely come during the fall. He plans on taking an official visit to Notre Dame.
-- Josh Malone
(Gallatin, Tennessee): Hasn't named any favorites yet and he's keeping things close to the vest, but he still plans to narrow his list this summer. Tennessee could end up being the team to beat, and he's also considering Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. He made a trip to Notre Dame this spring.
-- Isaiah McKenzie
(Plantation, Florida): Notre Dame is his leader, and the rest of his top five is (alphabetically) Cincinnati, Kentucky, Rutgers and West Virginia. He plans on visiting those four schools in July and then making a decision.
-- Cameron Sims
(Monroe, Louisiana): Visited Notre Dame earlier in June, and likes the Irish plan for him to be targeted for plenty of passes. He's also very high on Alabama, and the Tide could hold too much of a lead at this point considering Sims plans to commit at the end of summer or early in the season.
-- Michiah Quick
(Fresno, California): His top schools are Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and California. Oklahoma and USC seem to be biggest competition, and he plans on taking all of his officials and announcing on National Signing Day.
