The Opening: Mattrell McGraw Update

BEAVERTON, Oregon - Mattrell McGraw narrowed down his list of schools to eight in the spring and the second cut was made at The Opening on July 1. He is now focused on three, but could there be another school out there? Get the latest here...

For now, there is only three schools in the running for Mattrell McGraw he said at The Opening, but that may not his final group.

"Florida State, UCLA, and Oregon are kind of my final three schools, but there is still one offer out there that could change that," McGraw said.'s complete coverage of The Opening 2013 presented by NIKE
"I am going to camp at LSU in July and if they offer me, then I will move them into my top three. They would probably move ahead of FSU if they offer me."

For now though, the safety out of River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Christian is looking at three schools.

He likes what each has to offer.

"I really the tradition at FSU and their history there. They also put a lot of guys in the NFL. I will be down there in July to visit.

"Out west, at UCLA, I love the players and the coaches - I really could fit in well there. I love the big city and I like the combination of football and academics. Oregon has a great environment and it feels like family there for me. They have a great staff and Oregon was kind of my dream school too."

With visits to Oregon and UCLA behind him, the camp at LSU, the visit to FSU could be big for McGraw because he could be closing in on a decision.

"I am pretty sure I will be committing before the season starts," he said. "I will probably make my decision late in August. I have seen a lot, I will see FSU soon, and I will know where I stand with LSU then, so I will be ready."

McGraw is the No. 30 safety in the country on Scout.
