The Opening: C.J. Hampton Update

BEAVERTON, Oregon - C.J. Hampton was the first Ole Miss commitment in the 2014 class and he appears to still be strong to the Rebels, but he is giving other schools a look. Get the latest here...

There is usually no hesitation from C.J. Hampton when asked if he is still solid to Ole Miss despite visiting and talking to other schools and it was the same at The Opening on Monday.'s complete coverage of The Opening 2013 presented by NIKE
"Me and Ole Miss are still sitting fairly well with each other. My family is good with them, I am too, and my commitment is still strong to them," Hampton told Scout.

Hampton has always been open and honest about visiting other schools and he is going to continue to do that despite being one of the leaders of the Rebel class.

"I have always said I will take some visits, see new places, and make sure of everything, so that is what I am doing.

"I have visited Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee so far this summer and I will be at Georgia on July 12.

"I had a great time at the three schools I have already visited this summer and I have a connection to Georgia (UGA OL Coach Will Friend and Hampton's father know each other well), so I just need to check things out."

Is anyone really tempting this elite safety out of Meridian, Miss.?

Show the Rebel Nation be worried at all about his commitment?

"I cannot really say," he said with a laugh. "I am just checking out all of my options to see which school is right. Ole Miss is the right one right now. It is an in-state school, I know so much about the school and the coaches, and I feel good being at the home school."

Hampton is the No. 11 safety in the country on Scout.
