The Opening: Roderick Taylor Update

BEAVERTON, Oregon - That time has come for Roderick Taylor. The Scout 100 offensive lineman has set a date and he will be committing next week...

Out at The Opening, Roderick Taylor alerted Scout that he will be making a decision next week.

Taylor told Scout that he will commit to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, or UCLA.

"I am committing next Monday," Taylor said. "I am ready to get it (recruiting process) all overwith. I am going to figure it out, call the coaches, and get it done. I am ready."

Do schools like Florida, Georgia, and UCLA really have chance with the top offensive guard in the southeast?

"They do. I am looking at each school and I will pick one of those five. I will pick the right one for me."

Most feel it will be a school out of the SEC West. Taylor and his mother have visited Oxford, Miss. and Tuscaloosa, Ala. this summer.

Both stood out to Taylor.

"At Ole Miss, I really like the coaches and the energy there. Coach Hugh Freeze is great and he keeps it 100-percent real with me. He has that program going in the right direction.

"I like Coach [Mario] Cristobal at Alabama a lot. I like his coaching style a lot. I am a visual learner and that is the way he teaches, so I like that. We have developed a good relationship too and my mom liked him also."

Ole Miss has something 'Bama cannot offer, Taylor's teammates.

Callaway safety Ronald Walker and wide receiver Dayall Harris have already committed to the Rebels, so will that help Ole Miss with Taylor?

"I would not say they have an advantage because of that. It is going to be my own decision. My mom is helping me a little too, so I am going to do what is best for me."
