Brown Seals His Pledge On TV

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Erik Brown, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver prospect from Summit High School in Fontana, Calif., verbally committed to Washington Tuesday on ESPNU during The Opening 2013, the elite 7-on-7 tournament and lineman challenge in the country. Brown, who was recently at Washington's Rising Stars Camp, picked the Huskies over UCLA.

Brown is the seventh-known public verbal commitment for Steve Sarkisian and UW, who picked up three more commitments during their Rising Stars Camp at the end of last week - Oakland McClymonds safety Lavon Washington, local safety prospect Drew Lewis from Eastlake High, and touted cornerback Jonathan Lockett from Santa Ana Mater Dei - who is also participating in The Opening.

Brown is the second receiver commit for Washington's 2014 class, following Rahshead Johnson, who verbally committed during the 2012 Rising Stars Camp. Brown is also a cousin of former Oregon receiver Devon Blackmon, who has been linked with a possible move to Montlake after leaving Eugene.

Last year Brown had 21 catches for 305 yards and four touchdowns. HERE is a 2012 highlight video of Brown in action from his junior season.

We'll have more on this breaking news from Beaverton, including a video of Brown talking about his decision.
