Safety placing Bobcats high

Some athletes have already racked up the offers and are making commitments but for others the process is just beginning.

Stephan Johnson got an offer from Texas State in June, his first with a number of schools showing interest, most notably Northwestern and Army, where his uncle coaches.

Johnson has been traveling to several universities that have shown interest in his skills and although he has not made a decision yet, Texas State is at the top of his list. The first offer is always special.

"I was getting in from a workout at 1 p.m. and got the call from Coach Naivar with a full ride offer, Johnson said. "It's a blessing, something I've been working for my whole life. You always remember your first offer. Texas State will always be on my mind."

This prospect is a hunter in the defensive backfield. The 6'0" 180-pound safety runs a 4.47 40 and was a second team all-district 14-5A safety for College Park High School, located in The Woodlands, TX.

If Johnson decides to join Texas State he would be alongside best friend Germod Williams, who signed on to play for the Bobcats this past signing day.
